About the Position:
We are seeking experienced Maintenance Welder/Fabricators to join our team at a busy scrap metal recycling facility. This position is responsible for performing after-hours maintenance and repairs on a heavy-duty metal shredder and supporting equipment to ensure maximum uptime and reliability.
This is not a production welding job. We are looking for someone who is mechanically inclined, can work independently, and has experience repairing heavy industrial equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform structural and wear-plate welding on shredder components.
- Repair conveyors, hoppers, chutes, and heavy steel structures.
- Replace liners, wear plates, shafts, and other worn components.
- Fabricate parts as needed to minimize downtime.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings and measurements.
- Inspect equipment and identify potential failures before they occur.
- Perform cutting, gouging, grinding, and fabrication work.
- Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Be available for emergency breakdown repairs when necessary,after hours and on weekends.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of industrial welding experience.
- Experience with MIG, Stick, and Flux-Core welding.
- Experience repairing heavy equipment, crushers, shredders, mining equipment, or steel mills preferred.
- Ability to operate oxy-fuel cutting torches, plasma cutters, and air arc gouging equipment.
- Ability to lift 75+ pounds and work in confined spaces and at heights.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Reliable transportation and excellent attendance.
